DMNews - Gaming Programs Go Mainstream

Read the latest DM News article here : http://www.dmnews.com/cms/dm-news/affiliate-marketing/37714.html

Written by Shawn Collins - CEO of Shawn Collins Conuslting, an outsourced affiliate management agency. The article looks at how traditional non-gaming affiliate's are changing their attitudes more favourably towards Gaming and Gambling Affiliate programs to generate more revenue.

GameAccount has been leading the way in terms of "super" affiliate recruitment outside of the traditional gambling circles. Historically retail, coupon and incentive based websites have been targeted outside the traditional gambling space but have historically driven high volumes of traffic that aren't necessarily qualified in terms of gaming traffic therefore seeing poor conversions and lack of revenue.

However – typically, this traffic is made up of people who are already used to purchasing or giving out their personal details online (you are effectively catching them mid - sales cycle) , so the transgression to gambling or playing games online for real money is relatively easy to induce an action from them.

Any website that has a good source of traffic with a common factor of say, age, common interested even an area demographic would make for the perfect prospecting opportunity for new cash players. For example: a webmaster who has an exotic cars website and who has built up a substantial amount of traffic with a dedicated online community and perhaps an elite membership forum would be a perfect non gaming affiliate to recruit.

Why? - because people visiting his site would be predominately male and over the age of 21 (plus we assume that these guys are earning a fairly decent income to be able to afford these types of cars) - so really this is the perfect demographic to approach for a cross over for online games such as Gin Rummy, Blackjack, even Multi player 8 ball pool. With community based multiplayer lobbies – bespoke events can be hosted and endorsed by the affiliate which helps to promote the gaming brand.

It’s a law of averages – the wider you cast your net the more likely you are to source more quality players. The key thing - is to know when to draw the line and what is appropriate – otherwise it is money badly spent. With proper support and relationship building from affiliate managers, non-gaming affiliates stand the chance of making some great revenues!

It’s a fantastic opportunity, a good way to increase personal revenues and an easy cross sell to webmasters who have established themselves in online business and have a good knowledge of how to market themselves online.

As the affiliate manager for RedHotPartners, the SKILL GAME affiliate program , I personally always look for new markets and groups to target that I think would make a good hybrid partnership. I make it my business to work individually with all our partners to ensure a tailored campaign, good conversion rates and long term revenues. The fact that skill games are legal in terms of advertising in the US makes it even more attractive to affiliates who are perhaps a bit wary of getting involved!
